This Document is a summary of
proceedings of the URI Africa Regional Conference on The Role of Religions to
Build Peace, Security and Counter Violent Extremism in Africa held in Kampala,
Uganda from 22nd to 23rd August, 2011 at the Hotel
Africana. Living within a reality of dire social problems, cycles of violence,
killing, malaria, unemployment, corruption in government, resilient and
creative people from different religions, government officials, military, URI
grassroot interfaith groups, social services, and NGOs met to engage one
another around the theme: Role of Religion to Build Peace, Security, and
Counter Violent Extremism in Africa.
Sustainable Societies, Responsive Citizens:
This document is the Final
Declaration by CSOs from around the world in DPI/NGO Bonn Conference agree on
17 Sustainable Development goals to take to Rio+20. The Declaration calls upon
governments in accordance with human rights, the principle of common but
differentiated responsibilities, and respective capabilities to adopt the
following draft Sustainable Development Goals together with the sub-goals,
reasons and clarifications relating to each goal.
